Food grade magnesium carbonate white monoclinic crystalline or amorphous powder. Non-toxic, tasteless and stable. Relative density 2.16. Food grade magnesium carbonate is slightly soluble in water, the aqueous solution is weakly alkaline, and the solubility in water is 0.02 (15 ℃). Soluble in acid and ammonium salt solution. It is easy to decompose into magnesium oxide and carbon dioxide when calcined. When it comes to dilute acid, it decomposes and releases carbon dioxide. Food grade magnesium carbonate is generally slightly soluble in water. When heated, it is easy to react with water (when hard water softens) to form magnesium hydroxide (because magnesium hydroxide is more insoluble than magnesium carbonate).

Magnesium carbonate is used in the manufacture of magnesium salt, magnesium oxide, fire retardant coating, ink, glass, toothpaste, rubber filler, etc., used in food as flour improver, bread leavening agent, etc.

Food grade magnesium carbonate can be used in the production of flour improvers. In the formulation of flour improver, food grade magnesium carbonate is a very important raw material component, which can play a very large auxiliary role, greatly improve the fluidity and dispersion of flour improver, and act as an anti-caking loose agent.
